Mr. Hussain Samad, in acareer of over 25years in the development sector, has worked for major development organizations including World Bank, Asian Development Bank (ADB), JICA, Inter-American Development Bank, and International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI). He has managed research projects and studies; negotiated with governments and other stakeholders; provided technical support to regions; overseen data collection activities; authored books, articles and reports; presented in seminars; designed courses, and conducted hands-on trainings in a workshop setting.
Mr. Samad’s research interests include sustainable development goals (SDGs), energy (including renewable energy), poverty, infrastructures, education, and rural finance (including microfinance and digital financial services). His skillset includesimpact evaluation;monitoring and evaluation (M&E);policy analysis;course design;survey, sampling, and questionnaire design;conducting workshop and training;and advanced data analysis.He has workedinSouth Asia (Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan), East Asia (Vietnam, Lao), Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Botswana, Malawi, Madagascar, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, Liberia, Guinea, Cote d’Ivoire), and Latin America (Bolivia).
Mr. Samad has authored 8 books, and over 40 journal articles, book chapters and working papers. His works have been cited almost 5,000 times, and reviewed by esteemed publications such as the Economist. Mr. Samad has a Master’s from Northeastern University, Boston, USA.
